THE CASE FOR RECALL

Chad West has repeatedly put redevelopment interests ahead of the people who elected him. A recall gives District 1 voters the chance to demand new leadership and stop the same developer-backed political network from simply replacing West with more of the same.

City Hall
He has been central to efforts to move City operations out of Dallas City Hall, the internationally significant I.M. Pei–designed civic landmark, and position the site for redevelopment—putting one of Dallas’ most important pieces of modern architecture and civic identity at risk.

Jefferson Viaduct
When billions were being committed to the convention center project, preserving the viaduct should have been a priority—not an afterthought. For years, the Jefferson Viaduct has been directly in the path of the convention center redevelopment plan. West knew the stakes and still failed to secure meaningful protections for one of Oak Cliff’s most important connections to downtown.

Rezoning and Development
West has pushed and supported aggressive upzoning in District 1 even when neighborhoods overwhelmingly objected, reshaping communities in ways that have benefited developers while increasing pressure on small businesses, longtime residents, and neighborhood character.

Developer Influence and Insider Appointments
Too often, neighborhood concerns have taken a back seat to powerful development interests and the money behind them. West has appointed plan commissioners whose development ties and potential conflicts have raised serious questions about whether the zoning process was serving neighborhoods—or helping deliver the outcomes developers wanted.

A Betrayal of Trust
Chad West was elected to serve District 1, but too often his actions have served the powerful interests financing his political future instead. His own campaign-finance reports show money flowing from developers and wealthy donors outside our district while residents fighting to protect their neighborhoods, businesses, and quality of life are ignored. District 1 deserves a council member whose first obligation is to the people who elected him—not the people writing the biggest checks.

Our mission is simple: return District 1 leadership to the people who live here. Build it from the neighborhoods up, demand accountability, and put residents—not developers and political insiders—back at the center of City Hall.
